The Hard-Edged Genius of Karl Benjamin: Selections from the Family Collection
This exhibit celebrates the diversity and creativity of Karl Benjamin, noted Claremont painter on his 100th birthday. Drawn from rarely seen private family collection, these magnificent abstract paintings were executed between 1969 and 1992. Collectively they demonstrate the diversity and range of his compositional creativity and gorgeous color sensibility.

Florence Arnold: Hard Edge Innovator
Florence Arnold is one of the most important women artists who developed an innovative hard edge abstract style in the 1960s. At the age of 50 she enrolled in the Claremont Graduate School and was mentored by Karl Benjamin. Working with oils on canvas, she exhibited with the California Hard Edge School of painters in America and Europe. The CCMA is proud to own a group of four impressive canvases, collectively titled Theme in a Square (1977). Her oeuvre also includes fine art prints.
